British Gas / Hornet Inc.

|
I started working for Hornet nearly 1 year ago, initially for the first British Gas spot to introduce CGI interiors and then moving successfully to full CGI spots including the exterior of the planets.
Produced at Hornet Inc NY and directed by Guilherme Marcondes.
I´m responsible for the CGI Art Direction and Supervision on them.

Bug Snuff.

|
I modeled/textured these scorpions for Big Lazy Robot, for the video Bug Snuff. Presented on AMD´s Cinema HD at Siggraph 2009.
Compositing by Big Lazy Robot and animation by Hugo Garcia.

Agora.

|
Agora was directed by Alejandro Amenabar. It´s a really epic movie, the dimension of the sets and also of the visual effects was something we had not seen before in Spain.
The movie got 7 Goya awards including the Best Visual Effects for the team leaded by Felix Berges.
My job in the movie was to recreate part of the Library of Alexandria, and it was a very demanding job.
These are some pictures of the shots I worked on with Kepa Casado. I´m responsible for modeling, texturing and lighting.
There´s also the VFX Demoreel of the movie from El Ranchito VFX.

Camino.

|
Camino is an amazing movie from Javier Fesser. I had the honor to work on it a couple of years ago. It really was a great experience. The postproduction was made at Molinare also.
We got nominated for a Goya for the best visual effects and the movie got 6 Goya awards.
I can´t recommend enough to everyone to watch it, but beware....it´s not a happy movie.
My work on it was to develop a photorealistic mouse, including modeling/shading/lighting and also hair system. I also worked on other shots of the movie, like the Cinderella´s castle that i also designed/modeled/lit and I helped developing the look of the Limbo sequence (the flowers sequence).

His Majesty Minor.

|
I worked as Lead CG Artist for Molinare on the postproduction of this movie from Jean Jaques Annaud (Enemy at the Gates, The name of the Rose, Seven years in Tibet, The Bear...).
It was my first attempt to create CG that was looking like scale or plasticine models, and my responsibility was to develop the look of a sequence in which the main character was having a nightmare.

Furia Digital.

I joined Furia Digital in September 2005. It was a fantastic experience and I absolutely loved Barcelona.
We worked with RSA and Director Carl Erik Rinsch on different projects but these are my favourites.
El Rasca de la Once. I designed this character for the TV spot, also modeled/textured him and lit most of the shots.

My Blog.

|
Hello everyone.

My name is Javier Leon. I´m a visual effects artist and I live in Spain with my wife and my lovely two daughters. I´m starting this blog to put together some of the work I´ve been doing during all this years.

I started my career 15 years ago as a graphic artist working for Cadiz University. When I was there I leaded the art department at Interdis, an investigation group that made Multimedia Software focusing on technical english and welding techniques.

After that i joined Cesiga, S.A., a software company in Pontevedra, in the north of Spain, as Director of the Multimedia Department.

Then I moved to the games industry, working on games like Commandos 2, Galleon, and Worms. I´m quite proud that the Worms franchise still uses the logo I designed 8 years ago.
